Car Auction News – Prominent property owner insists he has done nothing wrong after being sued by City of Fontana (Fontana Herald News)

A prominent property owner whose land was annexed into the City of Fontana is challenging the city in a legal battle over alleged code violations. The city has filed a lawsuit against Lee Wetzel, who is the largest landowner in Fontana and who was recently named Small Business Person of the Year by the Fontana Area Chamber of Commerce. The city is asking Wetzel to combine his land from two 2-and-a-half acres of land to a 5-acre piece, which Wetzel has refused since the orders were given early this year. Wetzel is also fighting the city for refusing to extend a conditional use permit granted by San Bernardino County in 2005 for a piece of land located in the 11000 block of Almond Avenue. Wetzel said that after writing the city in April, asking for an extension to take care of the fines and meet the conditions, meeting with city officials in May, and doing anything in his power to solve the issue, he is still waiting for a positive answer. However, Jeff Ballinger, an attorney from Best, Best & Krieger LLP, said that the city filed a lawsuit against Wetzel on May 21 in response to âzoning violations, fire code violations, and health and safety violationsâ in addition to âbusiness license violations. read more
