A historic airplane that was on the fringes of the attack on Pearl Harbor will hit the auction block at the 38th annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale. The airplane is a 1929 Ford 4-AT-E Tri-Motor airplane that was hit by bullets during the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor that drew the U. His son, Dolph Overton IV, co-piloted the aircraft alongside legendary air show pilot Jimmy Leeward. Henry Ford recognized the potential for mass air transportation after World War I and created the Tri-Motor “Tin Goose” to promote air travel.
