(Car Auction News) ‘Super Bowl’ of car auctions expands from Scottsdale to Vegas (Las Vegas Sun)

Craig Jackson, chief executive of the Barrett-Jackson car auction, announced a new vintage car auction at the House of Blues nightclub in the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino. Much like the Scottsdale auction, held at WestWorld of Scottsdale and broadcast on cable television, the new venue is expected to include live music, a fashion show and merchandise and memorabilia for sale, in addition to the flashy autos on the auction block. For months, Jackson has been threatening to scale back the Scottsdale auction in favor of Las Vegas. In May, he gave Scottsdale an ultimatum - either make concessions in negotiating a 20-year deal to keep the auction at WestWorld, or he would shift his focus to Vegas. On the flip side, Jackson said his relationship with Las Vegas is “phenomenal” compared to his rocky relationship with Scottsdale. And one day, he said it’s possible the Las Vegas event will overshadow the Scottsdale auction. read more

Car Auction News - Cricketer’s car fetches Rs446,000 for charity (Gulf Times)

The auction of the 2001-model emerald Honda City car with a Chandigarh registration (CH-03-E-0907) ended Thursday night on popular auction site eBay. The southpaw has already pledged the proceeds of the car auction to Himachal Pradesh-based NGO Bharmour Development Agency in the remote tribal belt of Bharmour in the state’s Chamba district. Yuvi - as Yuvraj is popular among friends in his hometown Chandigarh and in cricketing circles - has been seen driving this car often, though now he has swankier cars in his stable - a BMW sports model worth Rs6. Yuvraj has already posted a signed letter on the eBay website, saying he had given his Honda car to be put up for auction and that the proceeds would be used by Bharmour Development Agency. read more
