Group Wants Wal-Mart To Redraw S.R. 54 Plans (The Tampa Tribune)(Car Auction News)
ELFERS – Opponents of a Wal-Mart Supercenter proposed for Grand Boulevard and State Road 54 will ask county commissioners on Tuesday to throw out plans for the project and make the retailer start again. Opponents say the plans were full of holes and violated county land-development rules. The conditions attached to the December approval will result in major changes by the time construction actually starts, essentially creating an entirely different project, Ellis said. This week, Wal-Mart asked the county for a variance to the land-development regulations that would allow for a traffic signal at the store’s southern entrance on Grand Boulevard. Wal-Mart selected it after neighborhood protests convinced the company to drop plans to build at a site in Holiday. read more

(Car Auction News) Somerset weighs freight sites in 2 towns (The Star-Ledger)
Somerset County officials have identified a federal depot in Hillsborough and the Adesa car auction property in Manville as potential commercial freight “nodes,” centers where rail and truck traffic can intersect. In Manville, the auction property adjoins a rail yard that could simplify transfer of freight, according to county planner Walter Lane. With a recent history of floods that submerge portions of the cur rent causeway north across the river, a flood-free connection “also could help in the town with evacuations in case of emergency,” Lane said. The county has targeted Chimney Rock, already a route for commercial traffic, for an interchange just to the north at Route 22. Meanwhile, the Duke Farms Foundation has suggested replac ing Dukes Parkway West with a new connector to Brown Avenue, which is hardly more than a turn-in on Route 206 just north of the depot, Lane said. read more

(Car Auction News) TV Review: Painkiller Jane – “Higher Court” (Blogcritics.org)
Jane tries to convince Maureen that the neuro needs to go behind bars, giving her what the faithful – with the emphasis on faith – have come to know as the responsible, do-the-right-thing, follow-the-rules McBride speech. While it's great to see Jane injured – as this is the purpose of the show – she pushes Hazen out of the way . In fact McBride, Maureen and Riley are standing there trying to get through to Connor but before they do – and brilliantly for the show – he starts firing guns everywhere at the masked gunmen he sees.
