Used car dealers adjusting to stringent consumer choices (Rome News-Tribune)- Car Auction News

Spears Auto manager Scotty Cannon said acquiring good late-model vehicles is getting tougher for used car dealers. Butch Payne, whose grandfather started the Broome Motor Company in Rome back in 1947, has owned Georgia Auto Brokers, 800 Martha Berry Blvd. Brothers Ed and Gene Spears got out of the bedding business a couple of years ago and jumped into used car sales by opening a dealership at 3246 Rockmart Road in Silver Creek . Thirty years ago, Salmon diversified into the vehicle leasing business and owns Automax and Busmax businesses in Rome and Cartersville, along with a Busmax shop in Norcross. One vehicle not for sale at the Salmon Super Store is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, which Salmon and his sons just purchased last month at the Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. read more

A Barrett-Jackson Edition Roush Mustang concept car will be auctioned in April at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. The car is the precursor of a production run of the car of up to 25 units based on the 2010 Mustang and an additional 25 units on the 2011 chassis. The concept car for the Barrett-Jackson Edition Roush Mustang will cross the auction block during the 8th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach, Florida, April 1-3. Roush said in a statement that the concept “will be the model for a run of up to 25 units based on the 2010 Mustang and an additional 25 units on the 2011 chassis. The 2010 Barrett-Jackson Edition Roush Mustang gets 20-inch chrome wheels with high-performance Cooper RS3 tires and a suspension package that bundles Roush front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs, front and rear stabilizer bars and jounce bumpers. read more
