Car Auction News - Classic car with Hutch history turns up in Fla. (Hutchinson News)

Always the newsman, Jim Gannon knew when he spied a Hutchinson name on the owner’s manual of the 1950 Chevrolet coupe he bought at auction that it was a story. Gannon, retired editor of the Des Moines Register and a classic car buff, bought the vehicle at a Kissimmee, Fla. After his mother died, her car went to a grandson, Mike O’Riley, who lives near Bella Vista, Ark. In a telephone interview O’Riley, 68, said he still had the original sale bill for the blue Styleline cq Deluxe Chevy purchased by his great-grandmother Mrs. The two didn’t drive the car often, they shopped locally, drove downtown to the Davis-Child Chevrolet dealership on West Second Avenue to have it serviced and attended church occasionally in Plevna, in western Reno County. O’Riley had watched the Florida car sale on Internet and thinks he saw the car sell. read more
