The 37th annual Iola Old Car Show began Thursday and runs though Sunday with the theme “Independents and Imports — Alternatives to the Detroit Three. The theme was chosen before troubling times plagued the automobile industry, including General Motors, according to a press packet from the car show. Other featured events include a classic car auction, celebrity guest appearances and a “Teamed to Learn” tent, where educational workshops for car enthusiasts will be conducted. The show is managed by Iola Old Car Show Inc. The one-of-a-kind Bestul, a sports car built in Iola during the 1950s by Leonel Bestul, is on display in the “Teamed to Learn” tent at this weekend’s Iola Old Car Show & Swap Meet in Iola. read more
